 5th February 2024

"For the Hindus, religion is culture" - Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda

  • In Hinduism, philosophy in practice is religion, and religious values infused in daily life is culture
  • While philosophy's subject is not God but Self-realization, when philosophy is translated into religious practices, God-realization becomes the religious goal
  • Values and ethics practiced in Hindu society are not limited to social behavior, but the self-purification process which is essential for obtaining the religious goal.
  • Thus, philosophy, religion, and culture are inter-connected in the Hindu culture
  • Celebrating festivals is culture, worshiping God through festivities is religion, and understanding the spirit behind religious worship is philosophy.
